The Research Study Assistant (RSA) will be an integral member of the Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities Service (IHCD) within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. IHCD works towards equity of health for minority and immigrant populations through service, outreach, education, training and, research initiatives. As a part of the research team and in compliance with all regulatory, institutional, and departmental requirements, the RSA will work on a NYC multi-center study to address food insecurity among cancer patients in underserved communities, and a program to promote minority recruitment to clinical trial studies. He/she will be responsible for patient enrollment, patient interviews, medical chart reviews, data collection, data entry and management, along with various other research support duties.
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; Mandarin and/or Spanish fluency required. Candidate should have some clinical research experience, excellent time management, organizational and communication skills, and a genuine interest in working in health disparities research. A 2 year minimum commitment is preferred. This is a full-time position of 37.5 hours (5 days) per week.
Coordinate and carry out data collection (patient recruitment, administering data assessments)
Develop and maintain study databases, codebooks, and procedures for data entry and monitoring
Conduct regular audits of the data to ensure its accuracy and integrity
Ensure that patient registration, informed consent procedures, and handling of data meet all institutional and governmental requirements
Provide regular reports to the Research Manager and PI regarding study progress and challenges and work with the team to address any problems that arise;
Organize and participate in study meetings
Assist in the preparation of presentations and manuscripts
Perform literature searches and other tasks as needed
Spanish and/or Mandarin fluency- with ability to read and write, strongly preferred
High School Diploma with 9-12 months MSK Research Study Assistant I clinical research experience at MSK or Bachelor’s Degree with at least 1 year of clinical research experience
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, ACCESS or SPSS software strongly preferred
Outstanding judgment, initiative, and attention to detail
Superior interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills
Flexible and works well independently as well as in a team setting
